We are a partnership network of organisations which aim to improve education equity around the world. We do this by supporting teaching and learning for children and young people through better use of evidence.
Our aim
The education equity gap is a common challenge that unites policymakers, practitioners and education organisations and agencies across the globe. Almost every education system performs less well for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and communities, limiting their life chances.
The Evidence for Education Network (EEN) is a global partnership of organisations dedicated to addressing equity.
We aim to improve teaching and learning through better use of evidence. We put high-quality evidence into the hands of as many education practitioners and policymakers as possible so that it makes the difference for disadvantaged children and young people.
We do this by
Summarising evidence
Finding new evidence
Putting evidence to use
Our history
Our secretariat is based at the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), an independent charity established in 2011 and based in the UK. It is dedicated to improving the education attainment of disadvantaged children and young people and is the UK government’s designated ‘What Works Centre’ for education in England.
Since 2014, the EEF has been working internationally on a partnership based model with nationally or regionally focussed evidence functions who, like the EEF, aim to improve teaching and learning and address education equity in their own systems. During this time, eight partnerships were established and a collaborative peer-peer network of evidence functions grew. In 2023, the network was formalised into the Evidence for Education Network.
Our work has been supported by BHP Foundation and the Centre of Excellence for Development Impact and Learning (CEDIL).
